| Carbon Management
Fossil fuels will remain the mainstay of energy production well into the 21st century. Availability of these fuels to provide clean, affordable energy is essential for the prosperity and security of the U.S. To stabilize and ultimately reduce carbon emissions to the atmosphere, it will be necessary to employ carbon management technologies for capture, separation, and storage or reuse.
RMOTC is a strong contributor to the advancement of carbon management research and development. Naval Petroleum Reserve No. 3 (NPR-3) is located within the Rocky Mountain region, which has both an enormous resource base of CO2, and has the core characteristics required for long-term activity in carbon management projects. RMOTC’s experienced staff, geologic setting, and a wide array of facilities and equipment make it an ideal project test site.
